34 year old, with a 13 year old girl!!

today was one of the most interesting days of my life! I was hanging out with my mate, who happens to be 34 years old, and he decides to invite some girls over- girls that he had met in a club a couple of weeks ago. Then, when you see the girls, you realize that you know the girls, and that they used to be the most godly people that i used to know...what's worse is that one of the girls ( that my 34yr old friend was gonna hang out with ) is 16 and the other one is 13!!! what's even worse is that my friend met the 13 year old first, adn got her number!!!

seroiusly, i was disgusted, but i was also intrigued at how crazy life in this country is ... this sort of thing happens all the time...

life is crazy!!

Goals...Always on mind

Yesterday, I was thinking about speaking french and Italian, about learning sign language, about visiting south America, about starting my band or just singing in front of an audience anywhere. I thought about these same thoughts today too. These are everyday occurrences- i think about it all the time. Its like an obsession. I don't know if this is normal- is it?

The funny thing about this is that when i am supposed to be thinking about economics or T-accounts at university, I am instead thinking about this stuff. It kinda makes me wonder if i am on the wrong path in life. I wonder if i should be changing these thoughts into actions, instead of fulfilling the goals that society wants me to be doing. The parents want me to 'out-do' them; to succeed in life; to earn more money than they did; to be a successful family man/ actuary/financial analyst- but isn't it more important to ENJOY LIFE? accounts is not on my list of favorite things to be doing.. speaking french is!!

Everyone says that ' you have your whole life ahead of you', but do i really?...
after my degree, most people are expecting me to start working, and there is no time for doing another degree in linguistics in my parents' view.. what should i do?

i really wonder if i am the only person who feels like this? If you feel it too- tell me about. I need to hear from others in my position

Lovers can (never ) be friends

Lovers can (never) be friends

I was recently thinking about what lessons I learnt this semester at university and of the many that popped up in my mind, the most striking was the realization that ‘friends with benefits’ doesn’t mean what it sounds like-is an oxymoron. You can either be friends or people with benefits, but not both! You’re probably thinking ‘this idiot is just talking crap’, but hear me out a little before you throw my stuff down the toilet (pun intended!)

Honestly, what is a friend? Someone whom you trust, respect, love (in a familial way) or look up to- you can’t deny that these are aspects you look for in a friend. So how does a FWB (friend with benefits) fit in with these attributes? Not very well, and to be honest, not in the way you want a true friend to fit the description!

Things happened this semester with people that I thought were my friends and now I realized that these people weren’t really friends- they were either more than, or less than, but never a real friend. If you can use someone for the ‘benefits’ without feeling, then clearly you have very little respect for them and chances are that you are not going to tell girl X your life secrets the net day when you guys are hanging out- if that FWB is merely there to benefit you!

I think that the point above was the rather obvious one, but the even more shocking one (for me at least) was that the FWB that you do end up telling your secrets are not really your FWB’s; they mean a lot more. You are probably repressing feelings for that person. Seriously, think about it- You are making out ( at the very least) with this person, and then you get cozy and start delving into each other’s secrets- sounds like a relationship to me.

If you think about, FWB are really one (or maybe, several) night stands with people you know you’ll see the next day- that’s messed up! It really is as cold as it sounds. Probably, in the FWB relationship, the two people are on opposite sides of this article. One cares too much and the other, not at all. Think about it, which one are you...?

Back at Uni

Ahh... University. Back to the random friends who I enjoy spending time with, but they add no value in my life, except for entertainment value!

Its been a week at uni, and I already wish i didnt have to wake up at 7.30, in order to get to my first lecture at 9. Then the day lingers on, while I fall asleep in most of my lectures( seriously.. I always fall alseep in my lectures- statictics is the worst...)

Finally, my day ends at 4, and I go to res adn sleep. This has become a ritual. Then there is the freids.. ahh, I like them. They are cool, yet down to earth... we all have our weirdo moments, but its seems that when i am with them, then moments are many!

My friends make University bearable. What would i do without them...

I ate a Zebra Steak today- no, really, I did!

Forget the old fashioned beef rump steak or the timeless classic- the T-bone, today I ate a steak that came from the rump ( i love this word ) of a zebra. For those who don't know, or think they are not too sure, a zebra is that striped black and white animal that is found in the African Serengeti. And I ate its hiney today!!

To be honest, it's just like a beef steak, but I think it tastes better. It has a flavour that wasn't cultivated on a farm! This animal roamed free for its whole life (until shooter Joe culled it down) and all its life's experiences were etched in it's meat... OK, I'm talking rubbish, but you have to admit, eating game is cool! Even the family sitting next at the table next to us stopped, stared and gossiped about my zebra!

I just have to add this in... this is for all the naive idiots who can't take the time to learn more about the world in which they live- Africa is nicknamed the "Dark Continent", but it shouldn't be- we are just as sophisticated as the rest of the world. We do have televisions and microwaves... we have tarred roads and multi-storey buildings... we DO NOT live in mud huts or trees, we DO NOT keep lions and giraffes and buffaloes as pets ( we have normal pets like cats, dogs, goldfish, hamsters, etc).. so to answer your question, I DID NOT eat my pet zebra!!!

Why is Life such a bitch?!

Why can't there be a big board that appears when you hit a certain age, say 15, that says ' Tapuwa Mwashita- destined to become an investment banker'. Why does life have to make it so hard?...

Everyone says that one should have a career in something that they enjoy, but in reality, its not that simple- I, for example, love mathematics( ok, that could work... how about a maths degree- mathematicians are in high demand these days) but i also love languages, and I'm interested in mythology, and reptiles and chemistry. Let's see, how about becoming an ancient herpitologist with a major in organic molecules ( think about it...). So which one is my DESTINY?

I realise that now is not the best time to be airing my views on this- honestly, its a good 2 years late, since I'm in my first year of Actuarial Science! I guess this is a mixture of confusion, anxiety and doubt in my choices talking, but really!! Is my compass aiming the direction? The one thing I really don't want is to spend years doing something, then realizing it sucks!! But hey, who knows what life has in store... as the name suggests, I'll just have to live with whatever comes my way.

What are the chances!!!

What are the chances that on the one day that you go to the cinema to watch a movie, the electricity is cut off in the whole mall?... very slim, right?

Well, it happened to me!!Today!! Before I tell you what happened, let me give you some background information- I have overprotective parents; the kind that give their 20 year old son a 9 pm curfew. I don't usually go out much ( why go out when you are going to leave even before the good stuff begins), so when i do go out, I try to make it really fun. I had heard that Hancock is a good movie, and my friend is always good company( never any awkward silences when we are together- in fact, there is never usually a minute of peace and quiet when we are together!!)

So, we get to the movie and we watch a good 3/4 of it then, as Charlize is about to confront Will...Bam!Lights out, Screen off, complete darkness. None of the cinema employees come to tell anything, so everyone in the movie house starts doing their own thing, trying to pass the time away.. you have girls singing, some random guy playing rave music in the back, then you have my friend and I watching videos off our phones and laughing our heads off.

After about 30 minutes, employee finally comes and tells us to line up outside and get a refund ticket. Don't ask how, but my friend and I managed to get 2 tickets each, so we're gonna try the whole movie thing again soon...

But really... A blackout in the mall... at that very moment in time...what are the chances!!

The ways of the world- Gay VS Lesbian

2 or 3 girls sitting together, chatting and checking out cute guys- a scene automatically shrugged off as '' girls' night out', but the same scenario with guys will raise the eyebrow of any passerby. <>

But, what ever happened to 'the benefit of the doubt'?. Girls get it, so why not guys? It really kinda sucks for straight guys (like me) when your cute waitress comes and, after one look, takes a tiny step back, then stands just that bit further away, every time she returns to your table!!

I ask this because it happened to me today!! After going to watch a movie with a friend of mine from University, we went to Spur, and our cute waitress, whose name I can't remember, had the nerve to ask us if she should ' light the candle' that was at the center of our table!! To be honest, stuff like this does not really offend me; on the contrary, I find it really funny. But, I'd really like to know why men and women are viewed differently in terms of their sexual tendencies- another example would be how/why guys have many lesbian fantasies, but you'll never hear a girl dreaming about 2 guys getting at it!! I want to know WHY this is so... anybody? ( replies are most welcome!!)

The beginning of my blogging journey...

I thought that the first blog should be a general one, seeing as I am introducing myself to... well, anyone lucky enough to see and read this!

I wont bore you with generalities like '' my name is ... and I do such-and-such''; that's what a profile page is for, isn't it? But I will tell you what I think you should know about me-( wait for it, its gonna be good) I AM A NORMAL GUY!

Ok, it doesn't sound too great at first, but let me explain- the trend is that you only blog, or express yourself in general, if and when you have something extraordinary to contribute. Well, i think that's crap. There is a shortage of normalcy ( is that really a word... the spell-checker didn't disagree, so i'll take that as a yes!) in this world, and I wanna try change that by putting my contribution.

Not to say that my life is not full of extraordinary things; in fact, at the moment, I can fully describe myself as a regular guy who has really cool things happening to and around him!! Like, a couple of days ago, I got a producer coming up to me, offering a small contract to sing at a promotion. The funny thing is that he heard me singing at a gig where I and my friends were actually hired to DANCE!! cool... I'll tell you all about it soon.

Cheers!

ps: I like this blogging thing, I think its gonna become a regular thing.
